Ministry of Hajj Issues New Regulations for Pilgrim Movement During Peak Phase of Hajj 1447 H
As the peak phase of the Hajj pilgrimage for 1447 H/2026 M approaches, Indonesia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has issued an important advisory for all Indonesian pilgrims. Ministry spokesperson Maria Assegaff emphasized physical and mental preparedness as the key to facing extreme weather conditions in the Holy Land, where temperatures can reach 38-42 degrees Celsius.
The ministry is giving special attention to elderly pilgrims, those with disabilities, and groups at high health risk. Pilgrims are advised to immediately report health symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath, or fever to officials. As of now, 341 flight groups (kloter) carrying 132,057 pilgrims have been dispatched, while the number of pilgrims who have passed away in Saudi Arabia has reached 24 individuals.
As a mitigation measure, the ministry has circulated directives regarding the regulation of pilgrim movement and requests compliance with officers' instructions. Maria Assegaff also emphasized the role of Hajj and Umrah Guidance Groups (KBIHU) in providing health and safety education to ensure pilgrims are in optimal condition for facing the Armuzna phase (Arafah, Muzdalifah, Mina).
