Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Calls Jokowi, Expresses Solidarity Over Anak Krakatau Eruption and Forest Fires
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim gave Indonesia's 7th President Joko Widodo a call on Sunday (6/9/2026). Anwar expressed Malaysia's solidarity with the Indonesian people affected by volcanic ash from the Anak Krakatau eruption and the disaster of forest and land fires.
In an Instagram post, Anwar mentioned that Malaysia and Indonesia aren't just neighboring countries but sister nations with deep historical, cultural, and fraternal ties. "God willing, this bond will continue to be nurtured for the welfare of the people of both countries and the security and prosperity of the region," he wrote.
Jokowi also expressed his thanks for Anwar's concern and prayers through a post on his Instagram account. Both stressed that the relationship between the two countries goes beyond diplomatic ties, it's a close brotherhood for the sake of shared goodness and well-being.
