LPT: Ask for a port-out PIN and your carrier may offer a retention discount - salam

Salam - I wanted to share something simple that worked for me. I was switching my mobile service from Verizon to another company but wanted to keep my current number. To do that you usually log into your account, go to security, and click “request port out PIN.” You give that PIN to the new provider so they can transfer your number. Anyway, the only real reason to request that PIN is to leave the carrier. As soon as I asked for it I received an email from them saying, “Thanks for being a loyal customer. Here’s $20 off your bill every month for a year!” I hadn’t actually completed the switch, so just by requesting the PIN I could have kept my number and saved about $240 over the year. So if you’re thinking of changing providers, try requesting the port-out PIN first. Many big carriers don’t want to lose you and may offer a retention deal. May Allah make things easy for you.
