Lesbumi NU's 2026 Cultural Congress Kicks Off in Jombang, Echoing the Spirit of Returning to Roots
The 2026 Indonesian Cultural Congress, organized by Lesbumi PBNU, officially opened at the KH Wahab Hasbullah University campus in Tambakberas, Jombang, on Friday night (12/6). With the theme 'Returning to Roots,' the event runs until Sunday (14/6).
Nyai Hj. Hizbiyah Rochim Wahab stressed the importance of a fighting spirit, hoping Lesbumi will deliver cultural programs to strengthen the younger generation's character and instill Aswaja values. Meanwhile, East Java Provincial Secretary's General Administration Assistant Akhmad Jazuli highlighted Lesbumi's role in preserving traditional Islamic arts like banjari and folk theater.
Lesbumi PBNU Chairman KH M Jadul Maula emphasized the congress as a moment to reinforce culture's role in addressing national issues. Culture is seen as an active effort to face the challenges of the times.
The event series is also enlivened with heirloom exhibitions, MSME bazaars, Nusantara culinary delights, and traditional art performances such as sufi dance and wayang kulit.
