PLN Sukabumi Apologizes After Power Outage Disrupts Student's National Science Olympiad
PT PLN Sukabumi's Customer Service Unit (UP3) has issued an apology after a video went viral showing an elementary school student crying because she couldn't finish the online National Science Olympiad (OSN) due to a power outage. The incident happened on Monday, June 8, 2026, in Cireunghas District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.
The student, Nadya Putrinda Paramitha from SDN Gandasoli, got disconnected from the competition at the 32-minute mark because of a total blackout that lasted more than four hours. Not only was the electricity out, but the mobile internet network also went down, so they couldn't even communicate via WhatsApp.
The family said Nadya has come to terms with what happened and is cheerful again. They also mentioned that there were participants from other schools who faced similar problems. The family hopes this incident serves as a lesson for online competition participants to be better prepared for technical glitches.
