Learning about recent evils shows why Shirk is the gravest wrong

SubhanAllah, the more I see of the terrible acts some commit, the more I understand why Allah SWT made shirk the greatest sin. When people set up partners with Allah, they open the door to the worst evils-like those who harm the innocent and think they can escape justice. If someone can worship other than Allah, they can justify any crime, even against children and women. This isn't about Allah's ego, as some claim; it's about recognizing the light of Tawheed. From that foundation comes everything: knowing which laws to follow in war and business, and how to honor and protect the vulnerable. Truly, it all comes back to Taqwa-consciousness of Allah.
