As a Believer in Christ, My Heart Reaches Out to My Muslim Family
Salaam, everyone. I hope you’re all doing well, insha'Allah. I just needed to get this off my chest. Lately, it’s been weighing on me how often people from our faiths end up arguing over what’s in our Holy Books, trying to pull apart each other’s beliefs. But when I really reflect-looking at the teachings of Jesus (peace be upon him) and the pillars of Islam-how can anyone see the other as an enemy? We both greet with “peace be upon you” and reply “and upon you be peace.” We believe in one God, the God of Abraham. We believe in Jesus the Messiah. Even though I’ve been asked to simplify why I hold certain beliefs, deep down, I feel that the Almighty is beyond our full understanding-eternal, all-powerful, beyond time. Yet here we are, debating details. I view Muslims as true followers of Jesus (peace be upon him), because they await his return, and I long to be embraced as a fellow believer in the one God. I may not be familiar with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), but I know Jesus (peace be upon him), and I’m striving my best. I have so much hope for humanity and our future. Insha'Allah, one day we’ll all unite in a true Kingdom of God. I’m sharing this because I know many Christians genuinely care about their brothers and sisters in faith. The negativity some hold doesn’t matter to me-what fills my heart with joy is talking with Muslims about our beliefs and realizing how close we truly are. I don’t claim to know God’s will, but I’ve been reading the Quran and find it deeply beautiful. Maybe I’m mistaken in some of my views, but I feel God’s presence in my prayers. Perhaps none of us have it all right, but Allah is Al-Ghafoor, Ar-Raheem-the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. I trust that we’ll be judged by what’s in our hearts and souls. With all the division in the world today, I just wanted to spread a little love and light. May Allah bless and guide you all.
