Launching my watch business-seeking advice and duas
Assalamu Alaikum, I’m a college student who’s always wanted to start her own business. After months of planning, I’ve finally begun the production process! I’m building everything myself with no outside help, and I’m hoping to launch, Insha’Allah, around March or April. There are two core principles I want my brand to follow: 1. Fair pricing: I’ve seen many Muslim-owned brands (hijabs, abayas, etc.) charge very high markups. I get that there are costs, but I want to offer good-quality watches without overburdening our community. My goal is accessibility and honest pricing. 2. Charity (Sadaqah Jariyah): I plan to give a portion of profits to charity. I want this venture to be a source of ongoing khair for the Ummah, not just a way to earn. Because I’m juggling school and starting from zero, I’d love your input: - Marketing/visibility: Any practical ways to raise awareness and build a community before the official launch? What worked for you when starting out? - For fellow business owners: How do you keep prices reasonable while covering production costs and still setting aside donations? - Time management: Tips for balancing college and running a business? How do you stay sincere with your niyyah and avoid getting overwhelmed? I’d really appreciate any advice, lessons you’ve learned, or just your duas as I move toward this launch. JazakAllah Khair!
