Kutai Timur Regency Launches Scholarships for 1,000 Quran Memorizers, Strengthening Islamic Value Education
The East Kutai Regency Government in East Kalimantan has launched a strategic scholarship program for 1,000 children who are memorizing the Quran. Kutai Timur Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman stated the region's commitment to shaping a smart, noble-charactered Qurani generation, making this program part of the government's 50 flagship programs. He emphasized that this scholarship is a long-term investment in human resource development.
This program not only provides financial assistance but also focuses on building character based on Quranic values. The Kutai Timur Regency Government is also encouraging the strengthening of a religious culture in schools, including a Quran khataman (completion ceremony) held at the Daarussalam Sangatta Integrated Islamic Elementary School. This activity was attended by 220 students who demonstrated their skills in reading, understanding the translation, and memorizing the Quran.
This step is expected to shape a generation that is balanced academically and spiritually, responding to the challenges of globalization without losing their identity. The synergy between the government, schools, and the community aims to make Quranic values the foundation for developing holistic, intelligent, faithful, and noble-charactered individuals.
