Kushner meets Hamas officials in Cairo before arriving in Israel

Jared Kushner, a former adviser to US President Donald Trump, met with a senior Hamas official in Cairo. Hamas subsequently urged an international body to pressure Israel to accept a peace plan for Gaza. The talks, which also involved Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators, occurred as Israeli air strikes on Gaza continued and a US-Iran memorandum of understanding was set to expire.
