The Ministry of Religious Affairs is gonna hold a National Prayer and Zikir at Monas Square, Jakarta, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, to welcome Indonesia's 81st Independence Day. This event is projected to draw around 100,000 participants from various parts of society, including students, Islamic boarding school kids, religious figures, and civil servants.
The Secretary General of the Ministry, Kamaruddin Amin, said this national zikir and prayer is an expression of gratitude as well as a plea for protection for the nation. There'll also be interfaith prayers and a choir performance to represent Indonesia's diversity.
The Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, Abu Rokhmad, stressed that this moment shows harmony in the midst of differences. He hopes the prayers become energy to strengthen social solidarity and shared responsibility.
The Ministry hopes this event isn't just ceremonial, but becomes a space for reflection to reinforce unity and emphasize that diversity is the foundation of the nation's progress.
