Jombang Residents Fly NU Flag Alongside Red and White

Ahead of the 53rd Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress and the 81st Indonesian Independence Day, Nahdliyin residents in Jombang Regency are putting up NU flags side by side with the Red and White. A festive atmosphere can be seen in Banjarsari Village, Bandarkedungmulyo District, where the NU logo is also displayed at the village gate. Residents have been flying flags in front of their houses and along the streets since early August. Head of MWC NU Bandarkedungmulyo, H. Basarudin, said they’re encouraging people to welcome both moments at once. He hopes the Congress goes smoothly and produces leaders who look after the community. Support is also shown by preparing mosques as transit spots for visiting participants. The 35th NU Congress is scheduled for August 27–31, 2026 at Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang.
