Indonesian Army Clears Official Housing in Lenteng Agung for Active Soldiers
The Indonesian Army is tidying up and clearing out official housing in the Lenteng Agung area of South Jakarta, as part of securing state assets and meeting the needs of active soldiers. Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Donny Pramono stressed that this move isn't about taking people's rights or getting into a land ownership dispute.
The property being cleared is a Denzijihandak/SDS asset of the Army Engineer Center, covering 44,841 square meters with a Right to Use Certificate under the name of the Indonesian government c.q. the Army. The ex-Zikon 15 area, around 15,250 square meters, was always meant to be official housing for soldiers. The cleanup comes as organizational development drives up the need for living quarters.
These houses are classified as State Houses Category II, which are only for active Army personnel. Residents who have retired, moved, or no longer qualify are required to hand them back. Out of 152 households, 45 have voluntarily vacated their homes after receiving briefings.
All processes are being done persuasively, transparently, and according to the law, with help provided for moving residents' belongings. The Army says this action is to support national defense duties and the welfare of active soldiers.
