Hundreds of Young People Flock to Ta'aruf Golek Garwo to Hunt for a Halal Match
More than 354 young folks showed up for Ta'aruf Golek Garwo, part of the Peaceful Muharram 1448 H and Nikah Fest 2026 in Jakarta on Sunday (6/28/2026). This event was put on by the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs as a safe and dignified ta'aruf space for young people looking for a life partner.
Director General of Islamic Community Guidance Abu Rokhmad made it clear that this isn't just about bringing men and women together, but it's a way to revive the Prophet's sunnah in finding a spouse. The whole process includes introduction sessions, deepening communication, and muhasabah so participants can get to know each other responsibly.
Director of KUA and Sakinah Family Development Ahmad Zayadi said the participants' enthusiasm proves the need for a trusted ta'aruf space. This event is systematically designed to build readiness, both physically and mentally, for a valid and registered marriage, in line with the Marriage Registration Awareness Movement.
Golek Garwo is part of a strategy to build strong families as the foundation of social resilience, making marriage a well-prepared act of worship, and encouraging participants to follow up properly if they find a match.
