Houthis Claim Attack on Saudi Arabia's Oil Route, Sea Blockade Reinstated
The Houthi group in Yemen says they've carried out a strike on Saudi Arabia's key crude oil distribution and transport facilities. The main target was the pipeline network that moves oil to the Yanbu Port on the Red Sea-one of the Kingdom's main export hubs.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the attack was in retaliation for what they claim are violations of Yemeni airspace by Saudi drones. This action comes amid reports that the US and Iran have reopened talks to push for a resolution in the regional conflict.
The Houthis also announced they're bringing back the sea blockade against Saudi Arabia, marking a rise in tensions after more than eight years of conflict. Previously, Saudi Arabia had rerouted its oil exports to Yanbu Port via the east-west pipeline as a precaution against security threats in the Strait of Hormuz.
