Gus Fawait Instructs Sub-District and Village Heads to Track Down Dropouts for Sekolah Rakyat
Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait inspected the construction of Sekolah Rakyat (SR), a free boarding school for underprivileged children. The project offers complete facilities: dormitories, multi-story buildings, even a FIFA-standard soccer field. The school is meant for kids from extremely poor families (Decile 1 and 2), covering elementary, middle, and high school levels, with all costs covered by the government, including laptops, free meals, uniforms, and renovating uninhabitable houses.
Gus Fawait said SR is on par with elite schools like Taruna Nusantara and is a strategy to break the poverty chain. He ordered sub-district and village heads to register and ensure that children dropping out due to financial reasons can attend SR. The project is targeted for completion by the end of July, with synergy from the Jember Regency Government, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.
