Gresik Police Crack Down on Dozens of Trucks Violating Operating Hours on Pantura Route
On Tuesday (April 28), the Gresik Police took firm action against dozens of trucks that violated operational hour regulations on the Pantura route and in the Cerme area. In a joint operation with the Gresik Regency Transportation Agency and local police stations, offenders were immediately subject to administrative sanctions, including being required to turn back. This enforcement targeted high-risk traffic times when heavy vehicles often cause congestion and increase the risk of accidents.
Officers showed no tolerance for truck drivers operating outside the designated schedule. Penalties varied, from reprimand tickets to mandatory U-turns off the route. Besides time violations, authorities also checked vehicle completeness, including trucks transporting uncovered loads without tarps.
"This action is not just about law enforcement, but also a preventive step for collective safety," said AKP Nur Arifin, Head of Traffic for the Gresik Police. Police reminded freight transport business owners and truck drivers to discipline themselves in complying with operational hour rules. This compliance is crucial to reduce density during peak hours and lower the risk of accidents on busy routes like Pantura.
