Governor Khofifah Accompanies Vice President Gibran Attending the 55th Haul of KH Abdul Wahab Chasbullah in Jombang
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa accompanied Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to attend the 55th Haul (commemoration) of the late KH. Abdul Wahab Chasbullah at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang on Sunday (May 10). Thousands of congregation members, scholars, descendants of the Prophet (habaib), senior Islamic teachers (masyaikh), and students (santri) packed the boarding school area to participate in joint prayers and remember the legacy of the scholar who was one of the founders of Nahdlatul Ulama.
Governor Khofifah expressed appreciation for the Vice President's presence, which she said was a form of the state's respect for the struggles of ulama in laying the foundations of Islam, nationalism, and Indonesian unity. She emphasized that this haul is not just a tradition, but a moment to reaffirm the values of struggle, exemplary conduct, and the service of ulama in building the nation's civilization.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming in his address stressed the importance of the younger generation and students emulating the struggle and thoughts of KH. Abdul Wahab Chasbullah amidst various global challenges. He also expressed appreciation to the Islamic scholars (kiai), boarding school caretakers, teachers, female teachers (bu nyai), and the extended pesantren family who have contributed to raising a successor generation that is knowledgeable and faithful.
