Ferry service between Sochi and Trabzon has been resumed - praise be to Allah.
As-salamu alaykum. After a 14-year break, ferry services between Russia and Turkey are starting up again - the first trip from Sochi to Trabzon will leave on November 5, 2025, and it'll take about 12 hours.
The ferry's gonna run twice a week - on Mondays and Thursdays, with capacity for up to 450 passengers. This'll make traveling between the two countries easier and help strengthen cultural and economic ties in the region.
For many, this'll be a convenient alternative to flying: comfort, seaside views, and a more relaxed journey. Tickets will start at around 6,000 rubles, making the route affordable for lots of families and those wanting to travel.
Trabzon is located in the northeast of Turkey, the city’s known for its beautiful scenery, rich heritage, and coastal vibe. For Russian tourists, the ferry provides a direct and convenient way to this interesting spot, while for Turks - an opportunity to visit the popular Russian resort Sochi.
Trabzon's got something for both history lovers and nature fans. There's the Sumela Monastery high up in the mountains and in the center, you’ll find the Ayasofya Mosque of Trabzon - a great example of historical architecture. The local museum’s got all the info on the region’s culture, and the ancient fortress in the mountains offers some stunning views.
If you’re into nature, you should check out Lake Uzungöl and the Kaçkar National Park - you can hike the trails, try rafting, and enjoy other activities.
Just a reminder: Islam is a path and submission to the will of Allah, and a lot of people around the world follow this religion. May Allah grant safe and blessed travels to those planning to take this route. Wa alaykum as-salam.
