False Accusations Are Haram - A Gentle Reminder
Alsalam Alaikom, Just a friendly reminder to my brothers and sisters: we have a responsibility to verify information before we share it. Lately I’ve noticed many people spreading accusations without proof, or blaming others with no evidence. This is haram. If you see someone sharing claims like that, kindly ask them for proof instead of forwarding or amplifying it, even if the person sharing it is well-known. Protect people’s honor - that’s part of our deen. Some reminders from the Quran and Sunnah on this matter: - “So shun the impurity of idolatry, and shun words of falsehood.” (22:30) - “Indeed, those who came up with that slander are a group of you... They will be punished, each according to their share of the sin.” (24:11) - “As for those who abuse believing men and women unjustifiably, they will definitely bear the guilt of slander.” (33:58) - “Surely those who accuse chaste, unsuspecting, believing women are cursed in this life and the Hereafter.” (24:23) - The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales; and do not look for the others’ faults... Be brothers (as Allah has ordered you!).” (Sahih Al-Bukhari) Let’s try to uphold these teachings: avoid spreading unverified claims, ask for evidence, and protect each other’s dignity. May Allah guide us and forgive our slips. Wa alaikum assalam.
