Employees Involved, Theft of 73 Phones at Gedang Cell Jember Causes Losses of Rp 450 Million
The Gedang Cell store in Jember suffered losses of around Rp 450 million due to theft and embezzlement involving two employees. Store supervisor Fendi allegedly embezzled one iPhone 17 Pro Max worth Rp 25 million on April 29, 2026. A few days later, on May 10, 2026, the store was hit again by thieves who made off with 73 premium phones, Rp 39 million in deposit money, and Rp 1.2 million worth of accessories.
Gedang Cell Operational Manager Nizar revealed that the embezzlement case came to light after the Resmob team tracked the missing phone and found that the unit had been bought from Fendi. As for the theft, it's suspected to involve insiders, with former employee Rendra also named as a suspect.
The legal process for Fendi's embezzlement case has entered trial at the Jember District Court, while the theft case file is still being finalized. Management is leaving the entire legal process to the court and hopes the perpetrators get a punishment that fits their crimes.
