Defense AI startup Smack raises $61 million after Pentagon pushes for faster tech

Defense technology startup Smack Technologies has raised $61 million in a Series B funding round. The company says the funding will accelerate production of its AI decision-making tool, Omega, and a wearable AI display for troops. This follows increased Pentagon interest after a major AI vendor was declared a supply-chain risk, leading military branches to seek new suppliers. Smack has also secured two undisclosed prototyping contracts with the U.S. military.
