Gaza zoo struggles to care for animals amid ongoing conflict

A zoo in Gaza's Nuseirat refugee camp is operating with malnourished animals due to shortages of food and medicine. The owner relocated surviving animals from Rafah after fleeing an Israeli military operation in 2024. Veterinarians say the animals face stress from the conflict and an inadequate diet of frozen meat. Some animals left behind during the move were found dead, with only bones remaining.
