Can we appreciate food for a moment, please?
Assalamu alaikum - this is random but I just had the best hot and sour soup and it got me thinking. I love all kinds of fruit: strawberries, mangoes, kiwis, dragon fruit (which costs half your savings but tastes like pure elegance 😭). Now that winter’s coming, pomegranates are back and I’ve been eating them every day - pure happiness. 😋 Yes, pulling apart those little red jewels is a real test of patience. You’re there for like 20 minutes thinking, “Ya Allah, I didn’t sign up for this,” but then you take that first bite and you feel like, this is exactly what sabr was for. And don’t get me started on comfort food - soup that’s a warm hug, biryani that could probably solve world peace, Afghani pulao that’s basically perfection, butter chicken that can chase away the blues, and pasta in all its glorious carby goodness, and sooooo many more 🤤 Sometimes I just stop and think: SubhanAllah, Allah (SWT) could have made everything taste the same, but He didn’t. He gave us sweet, spicy, sour, crunchy, creamy - like He said, “Let them enjoy this dunya a little.” 😂 If this is a tiny sample of what Allah has placed in this world, then what must the food of Jannah be like? No effort, no burnt rice, no cutting onions with tears. Fruits that never spoil, drinks that never end, and flavours beyond imagination. We so easily overlook these small blessings, but food is one of the sweetest daily reminders of Allah’s generosity and creativity. Every flavour, every colour, every bite - it’s all a sign of His kindness. 🫶🍽️
