BPK and KPK Asked to Audit Rp100 Billion Qurban Cattle Budget
BANDA ACEH – Sharp criticism has emerged over the state budget of around Rp100 billion for the government's procurement of qurban cattle for Idul Adha 2026. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa confirmed the allocation for 1,098 cattle to be distributed to various regions. Several parties have highlighted the use of such a large budget amid difficult economic conditions, which is considered to hurt the public sense of fairness.
Adi Kurniawan, Chairman of the Nusantara People's Front (BaraNusa), stated that the spirit of qurban should reflect social concern, not an impression of wastefulness. He urged the Audit Board (BPK) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to conduct a thorough audit to ensure there is no irregularity, mark-up, or non-transparent practices in the procurement and distribution.
BaraNusa also asked the government to publicly disclose the budget details transparently, including the procurement mechanism and involved parties. Adi stressed that such large funds should be prioritized for programs that directly touch people's needs, such as food assistance, education, and health, without invoking a particular religion.
Previously, Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro announced that President Prabowo handed over 1,098 qurban cattle weighing 800 kg to 1.3 tons to 552 areas, including provinces, regencies/cities, mosques, and educational institutions.
