BPK and KPK Asked to Audit Rp100 Billion Budget for Sacrificial Cows
A number of parties have criticized the use of state budget funds of around Rp100 billion for the procurement of government sacrificial cows for Eid al-Adha 2026. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa confirmed the budget for the President's sacrificial cow assistance of 1,098 animals distributed to various regions.
Barisan Rakyat Nusantara (BaraNusa) Chairman Adi Kurniawan said such a large budget amidst difficult economic conditions could hurt the public's sense of justice. He urged the BPK and KPK to conduct a thorough audit and investigation to prevent potential irregularities.
BaraNusa also demanded transparency on the budget details, from procurement mechanisms, distribution, to the parties involved. Adi emphasized that the spirit of sacrifice should be a symbol of social care, not cause polemics due to lack of transparency.
Previously, Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro stated that President Prabowo handed over sacrificial cows to 552 regions, with weight standards ranging from 800 kg to 1.3 tons. The budget came from the state budget through the President's social assistance, with prices varying by region.
