Business and diplomacy
France organised a delegation of big companies to visit Syria. The trip was led by shipping firm CMA CGM, which signed a 30-year deal in May to develop and run Latakia port. Other firms on the visit included water and waste specialist Suez, defence group Thales, and Ellipse Group, which is looking into rehabilitating hospitals in Syria.

The Muslim Council of Elders has strongly condemned the criminal attacks on places of worship in Britain and called them acts of terrorism that violate the sanctity of worship. They warned about rising hate speech, racism, extremism and Islamophobia, and urged the international community to work for tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Travel - Jordan
Direct flights from the UAE to Amman are offered by Flydubai, Air Arabia, Emirates, Etihad and Royal Jordanian (about 3.5 hours). From June, Flydubai will also run a direct service from Dubai to Aqaba in the south. Check the airlines’ sites for fares or use a reliable price comparison tool.
