Ahead of First Session on Hajj Quota Corruption, Gus Yaqut Supporters Remain Unseen
BANDA ACEH - The atmosphere at the Central Jakarta District Court looked quiet, with no supporters of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in sight, Tuesday morning, August 11, 2026, ahead of the first hearing on the alleged corruption of the 2023-2024 hajj quota. As of 8:50 AM WIB, supporters hadn’t gathered yet.
The first hearing was set for the reading of the indictment by the KPK public prosecutor. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the prosecutor would lay out the case structure based on the investigation results, including the defendant's role and the alleged state losses.
The four defendants in this case are Gus Yaqut, former Special Staff to the Minister of Religious Affairs Ishfah Abidal Aziz, Operational Director of PT Makassar Toraja Ismail Adham, and Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama Asrul Azis Taba. The prosecutor will present the facts, evidence, alleged money flows, and the charges being brought.
The KPK is urging the public to monitor this trial, where all the details of the indictment will be tested through the court proceedings.
