Ahead of Eid al-Adha, Jember DKPP Ramps Up Sacrificial Animal Inspections and FMD Vaccinations
As Eid al-Adha approaches, the Jember District Food Security and Livestock Agency (DKPP) is stepping up health inspections of sacrificial animals, targeting sales stalls and slaughterhouses (RPH). Head of the Animal Health and Veterinary Public Health Division at DKPP Jember, Henry Kurniawan Mulyodiputro, said supervision has been tightened since mid-May 2026.
The DKPP is focusing on preventing Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) by vaccinating 40,000 livestock. Henry noted that FMD transmission in Jember is relatively under control, with the last case in February 2026 handled immediately. Dozens of animal health workers are on standby for antemortem and postmortem checks to detect dangerous diseases.
People are urged to use the 11 RPHs that have been equipped with disinfectants and adequate gear to ensure the quality and cleanliness of the sacrificial meat.
