A Thought for My Sisters on Wearing Hijab
As-salamu alaykum sisters, I’ve been thinking about something and wanted to share it with you all. Are we truly on a sincere journey when it comes to hijab? Before some influencers started showing trends like exposing the neck or wearing big earrings, most of us wore the hijab covering the neck fully-about 80-90% of people did. Suddenly, after these trends came in, many began following them. So I wonder, are we wearing hijab as part of our faith journey, or just following a trend? If it was truly a journey, wouldn’t we first focus on wearing modest and loose clothing before just putting on the hijab? Why do some wear immodest clothes along with hijab? It feels like hijab has become a fashion statement for some. Also, have you noticed how elegant and graceful my Indonesian sisters look? They cover their necks, and it adds a sophisticated touch to their appearance. This isn’t just about religion, even from a style point of view, it looks more refined. You should check out some tutorials from them. And to those who say proper hijab makes them look like an egg-honestly, that idea came from a few online comments, and then others just repeated it. When artists draw human faces, they often use an egg shape, so it’s natural. You don’t have to look like a triangle or anything else. Anyway, this is just my humble opinion. If you agree, Alhamdulillah, and if not, that’s okay too. Feel free to share your thoughts-no pressure either way.
