A heartfelt thank you to my Muslim brothers and sisters
About a year ago, I had a really scary experience where I was attacked by a dog that wasn't properly restrained. It was traumatic, and I ended up needing to stay in the hospital for quite some time. After it happened, I found that the only people I could really talk openly with about what I went through were my Muslim friends. Other folks I know seemed so attached to dogs that whenever I tried to mention it, they'd get upset or try to tell me how I should feel about it – they couldn't just listen. But every Muslim friend I had at the time was incredibly understanding and supportive. They actually let me share my feelings without judgment, even when I said I wasn't comfortable around dogs for a while afterwards. I'm still so grateful, even now a year later. Just wanted to say jazakallahu khayran to this community for being there when I needed it most.
