5 Virtues of Reading Surah Al-Baqarah: Peace and Protection from Demonic Disturbances
Surah Al-Baqarah, the second chapter in the Quran, holds a special place in Islam. This longest surah contains guidelines on faith, worship, law, social dealings, as well as stories full of wisdom about obedience and patience.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explained several virtues of this surah in hadith. First, reciting it in the house can expel demons and create tranquility (HR. Muslim). Second, regularly reciting it brings blessings, while neglecting it leads to regret (HR. Muslim). Third, its last two verses, recited at night, become protection and a guard against evil (HR. Bukhari-Muslim).
Fourth, within it is Ayat Kursi, the pinnacle of Quranic verses, which if recited in the house will drive away demons (HR. Abdur Razzaq). Fifth, Surah Al-Baqarah along with Ali 'Imran will become intercessors and shade on the Day of Judgment for those who recite them (HR. Ahmad).
