Youngest (13) and Oldest (91) Hajj Pilgrims Depart from Makassar Embarkation
The Makassar Hajj Embarkation has sent off pilgrims of extreme ages in Group 21 from Soppeng Regency. The youngest pilgrim is Zaakiyah Amaliah (13 years old), while the oldest is Rusna Lahemma (91 years old). Both entered the Sudiang Hajj Dormitory on Tuesday (5/5/2026) and are scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
Zaakiyah, who is still in the first grade of MTs (Islamic junior high school), stated that she is going to replace her deceased mother. "My mother passed away, so I'm taking her place. I feel happy but also sad because I'm replacing my mother," she said. She is traveling with her father, Aliyas Talib Musa.
Aliyas Talib Musa revealed that their Hajj registration was made back in 2010. After waiting about 15 years, the call has finally been fulfilled. "Alhamdulillah, it's only this year that the call was fulfilled. However, of course, behind our happiness, we still remember the late (my wife)," he emphasized. His wife passed away in 2025 after her health deteriorated.
