Will Mentally Ill Non-Muslims Enter Jannah?

Assalamu alaykum. I know final judgment is with Allah (swt), so I don't expect a definite answer, but I'm asking to think and improve my Deen. Will non-Muslims who have ADHD, autism, BPD, or NPD attain Jannah? One could say that features of these conditions can appear in many people depending on upbringing and circumstances. Living in highly individualistic cultures or surrounded by manipulative influences can change how someone understands the world and how they act. Could that be seen as a kind of mental impairment? Take someone with ADHD or BPD who truly intends good, but whose altered perception, memory, or coping leads them to believe differently and behave unjustly. Would that affect their accountability and possibly excuse them, even if they haven't accepted Islam? None of us are immune to such struggles. It feels close to sinful to assume or ask whether manipulative non-Muslims will be in Jannah - after all, our own entry isn't guaranteed. Consider, for argument's sake, a cruel leader with NPD who believes his actions are right because of his personality, or a traumatized community that justifies atrocity by fear that the other side would do the same to them. If their perception is distorted by trauma or illness, might they be forgiven? Or is this part of the test: to keep a pure heart, recognizing we cannot fully know what others endure or how they see reality, and to leave ultimate judgment to Allah (swt)? Maybe people of any faith could enter Jannah if their hearts were sound in ways we cannot measure. Jazakum Allah khair.

Tough question. Feels like mercy will play a huge role - Allah judges intentions and capacities, not just outward labels. Still, hard to be certain.

Short answer: we don’t know. Long answer: better to pray for guidance and mercy for everyone, including those struggling with mental disorders.

I try to think of it like legal insanity - accountability depends on capacity. Allah’s wisdom is beyond us, so yeah, leave judgment to Him and work on compassion.

This reminds me to be humble. We see actions but not inner struggles. Allah’s mercy is vast - hope that covers many situations we can’t judge.

Good question and very compassionate. Mental disorders change perception a lot; seems plausible they affect culpability. Still, faith is complicated - pray for mercy.

I’d avoid assuming anyone’s destiny. Your point about upbringing and culture is strong - it shapes people. Best we can do is dua and kindness.

Wa alaykum assalam. I honestly think only Allah knows the inner state - mental illness complicates accountability, so I try not to judge. Makes me focus on fixing my own heart instead.

I’ve wondered the same. If someone genuinely couldn’t grasp right from wrong because of a condition, it seems unfair to condemn them. Leave it to Allah and His infinite justice.
