West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini Arrested by KPK at Official Residence
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini at his official residence on Monday morning (7/20). The arrest took place after he attended a public viewing of the 2026 World Cup final in front of the regent’s office. In total, 19 people were rounded up from several locations in West Lombok, and initial examinations were conducted at the West Lombok Mobile Brigade Headquarters.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the team secured evidence in the form of cash in rupiah denominations and documents believed to be linked to the case. This operation relates to alleged receipt of money or bribes connected to projects within the West Lombok Regency government.
The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained and will soon announce the case construct and those named as suspects.
