Struggling to Hold onto Hope for a Long-Awaited Dua
Assalamu alaikum everyone, I hope you're all in good health. I've been making the same dua for one thing in my life for around three to four years now. At this point, my mind barely lets me hope anymore. Every time I get hopeful, it's crushed, and things don't work out the way I prayed for-only in this matter. Now I don't even want to hope or look forward to it because I've been let down too many times. Whenever I see this blessing come to others around me, I break down and feel terrible for myself. I cry a lot, in salah, in tahajjud, and in dua, but even when I'm making dua, my heart doesn't fully believe it'll happen anytime soon. Then I feel awfully guilty and pray that others with this blessing aren't affected by the evil eye because of me, and that Allah grants them even more joy. I keep thinking about how I've made dua in every time, place, situation, and context where it's said duas are accepted. I've prayed for this in tahajjud, in sujood, during Umrah, in front of the Kaaba, while it's raining, while traveling, and every other situation I've heard about, but my dua still hasn't come true. I know I shouldn't think this way because Allah's timing and plan is better than mine, but I can't help it-my heart feels so tired from thinking about this day and night. I need real, practical advice on how to stop losing hope and keep tawakkul, because the only one we hope and pray to is Allah SWT. Please don't give me generic advice like 'it'll happen if it's best for you' or 'your time will come when it's meant to be'-I'm tired of hearing those; they don't help anymore. Also, to anyone reading this, please say a prayer for me. Ask Allah to make this best for me in dunya and akhirah, grant it to me against all odds, and bless me in it. It would mean so much. 🤍 I pray Allah grants everyone reading this the best of both worlds and eases all your worries, ameen. 💗
