West Java Wins World's Best Muslim-Friendly Tourism Award
West Java Province has been named the region with the most promising Muslim-friendly tourism ecosystem development at the global level in the Halal In Travel - Global Summit 2026. The Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Region of The Year award was given based on the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) score from Mastercard-Crescent Rating.
Head of West Java's Tourism and Culture Office, Iendra Sofyan, stated that this award is the result of a long development of Muslim-friendly tourism. The assessment covers facility readiness, industry quality, regulatory support, program innovation, and international promotion strategies.
Iendra dedicated this award to travelers and as motivation for the development of Muslim tourism in West Java. Appreciation was also conveyed to business players, the community, the Governor, the Ministry of Tourism, and Crescent Rating.
This award is part of the GMTI Awards in Singapore, which also includes categories like top destinations, Muslim-friendly cities, and Muslim women-friendly destinations. This achievement reinforces West Java's commitment to building a halal tourism ecosystem that is comfortable and meets the needs of global Muslim travelers.
