Visa Not Issued, 33 Umrah Pilgrims Fail to Depart
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) of Indonesia has stepped in directly to handle 33 prospective Umrah pilgrims who failed to depart from Soekarno-Hatta Airport because their visas had not been issued. They were using the services of Alisha Barda Wisata (ABW), which is suspected of operating without a license as an Umrah Travel Organizer (PPIU).
Kemenhaj transferred the handling to a licensed PPIU, PT Wal Mahabbul Arafah. Some 24 pilgrims were successfully sent off on August 12, 2026, while the other 9 chose cancellation and refunds.
Director of Hajj and Umrah Supervision Ahmad Abdullah stressed that they will take firm action against travel agencies or individuals proven to have organized Umrah without a license. Kemenhaj urges the public to verify the legality of PPIU before registering, confirm schedules and visa status, and check licenses through official channels.
