Update on M7.7 Earthquake in NTT: 72 Dead, 900 Injured, 82,691 Displaced
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake that shook Nagekeo, NTT, on Saturday (15/8/2026) at 04.58 WIB killed 72 people, injured 900, and displaced 82,691. BNPB recorded 18,019 affected households and damage to 29,001 houses.
The quake also damaged 804 educational facilities, 237 health facilities, 195 places of worship, 257 offices, 45 road points, and 16 bridges. BNPB along with ministries/agencies are focusing on SAR, evacuation, health services, logistics, and infrastructure recovery.
The Main Assistance Post has been set up in Labuan Bajo and Maumere. PLN has restored electricity on nine national road sections, and most of the Trans Flores route is functioning normally again.
