Trying to Understand the Existence of Evil in Our World

Assalamu Alaikum, everyone. Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the amount of darkness and injustice present in the world, and honestly, it’s really overwhelming to think about. You hear about cases where people are taken advantage of, manipulated, or placed in difficult situations from a young age, often without fully understanding what’s happening. There are also stories of individuals hurting others without any remorse, chasing wealth or power no matter the cost. And then there are even deeper, more troubling discussions-like people seeking help from harmful, un-Islamic forces just to get ahead in life. It all makes me wonder... why? Why are some people capable of causing so much harm to others? Is it because of how they were raised, the environment around them, or something inherent in human nature? And why does it seem like righteous, good-hearted people often face suffering while those who commit wrongdoings sometimes appear to benefit? I don’t mean to sound negative; I’m genuinely trying to understand our world better. How do you make sense of all this without becoming desensitized or losing your compassion and humanity?
