Tourism Minister: Halal certification in tourist villages expands economic benefits for local communities
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana emphasized that the halal certification program for tourism village businesses improves service quality and broadens economic benefits for the community. As of May 30, 2026, the collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and BPJPH has resulted in 31,548 halal certificates in 1,119 tourist destinations across 34 provinces. Head of BPJPH Ahmad Haikal Hasan stated that this achievement strengthens the national halal ecosystem and tourism competitiveness, while also empowering village MSMEs. The program is expected to solidify Indonesia's position as a leading halal tourism destination and drive sustainable village economic growth.
