Thoughts on Beards and Loving the Prophet (ﷺ) More Than Ourselves
Assalamu alaikum everyone, wanted to share something I was thinking about. The Prophet (ﷺ) said we won't have true faith until we love him more than our fathers, our children, and all of mankind. There's also that powerful story about Umar (RA) - he told the Prophet (ﷺ) 'You're more beloved to me than everything except myself.' And the Prophet (ﷺ) responded, 'Not until I'm more beloved to you than yourself.' After reflecting, Umar (RA) declared he truly loved the Prophet (ﷺ) more than himself. So it got me wondering... if the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) told us to keep our beards, and someone doesn't because maybe they care more about their appearance or how they look to others... what does that say? Does it mean their love isn't strong enough? Love should mean making sacrifices, right? Just something to reflect on. May Allah (SWT) increase our love for His Messenger (ﷺ).
