The Visit Russia app - convenience for tourists from Muslim countries, sharia-friendly
Assalamu alaikum! Right before the New Year holidays in Russia a free app will appear that’ll make organizing a trip easier for foreign guests, reports RIA Novosti. The program will be available in app stores from December 19. With it you’ll be able to calculate a budget, apply for an e-visa and insurance, book tickets, choose hotels and restaurants. The app also has an AI-based voice assistant that speaks 36 languages.
Especially convenient for Muslim travelers - a GCC friendly service: it’ll point out restaurants with halal food, suitable hotels and mosque addresses, so it’s easier to plan trips with religious requirements in mind. The project was implemented with support from the Russian Union of the Tourism Industry and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, and it’s now being presented in Saudi Arabia.
Partners include popular Russian hotel booking services, cruise companies, flight aggregators, tour operators and insurance helpers. They’re currently discussing adding cashless payment functionality to the app together with leading Russian banks - the developers hope to find a solution within a month.
Earlier the Ministry of Economic Development and the Center for Strategic Research prepared a catalog of tourist routes across various regions of the Russian Federation, which will also be useful for those planning pilgrimage or cultural trips.
