The Story and Duties of Angel Ridwan: Not Just Guarding Heaven’s Gate
Believing in Allah’s angels is an obligatory pillar of faith. Angel Ridwan is known as the gatekeeper of heaven, but his duties are more vast. He glorifies and absolutely obeys Allah, leads the angels guarding heaven, opens heaven’s gate in Ramadan, warmly welcomes the dwellers of paradise, and arranges their well-being.
In Surah Az-Zumar verse 73, it’s mentioned that the guardians of paradise greet its inhabitants with peace. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said that on the first night of Ramadan, Allah commands Ridwan to open heaven’s gate (Narrated by Baihaqi).
Another noble story: Prophet Muhammad is the first person for whom heaven’s gate will be opened on the Day of Judgment (Narrated by Muslim). Ibn Qayyim described the warm welcome from Angel Ridwan and the children of paradise who bring glad tidings to the maidens.
