The Case of Damarsi Village Land Conversion in Sidoarjo: Witness Reveals Initial Process Attended by Village Officials
The investigation into the alleged irregularities in the conversion of Damarsi Village Treasury Land (TKD) in Buduran District, Sidoarjo, continues to unfold. Witness Mashuda, a supplier of fill material, revealed that before the landfilling began in October 2023, a thanksgiving event and peg installation were held, attended by the village head, the BPD chairperson, the developer, and related parties.
Damarsi BPD Chair Karmidi admitted to knowing about the plan to use replacement land from the beginning, but requested a halt after the replacement land could not be processed according to regulations. Despite this, development continued until a residential area was built.
Head of the Special Crimes Section at the Sidoarjo District Attorney's Office, Sigit Sambodo, stated that investigators are still gathering evidence and cross-checking witness statements and documents to reveal all facts, including the mechanism for exchanging village assets and the involvement of relevant parties.
