Tambakberas Jombang Spruces Up for NU's 35th Congress, PBNU Says Readiness Nearly 100 Percent
The Steering Committee (SC) for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress confirmed the readiness of Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Tambakberas, Jombang, to host the event from August 27–31, 2026. SC Chairman and Katib ‘Aam of PBNU, KH Ahmad Said Asrori, inspected facilities and infrastructure directly with the central committee entourage on Saturday (July 18).
The group began by visiting the grave of NU founder KH Abdul Wahab Chasbullah, then met with the boarding school's caretakers and foundation chairman. The inspection focused on parking lots and bazaar areas, which are in the final stages of land leveling.
KH Ahmad Said Asrori expressed optimism that the boarding school is ready to host. Besides the venue, the congress discussion materials are also being finalized, gathering input from various levels of leadership and Islamic boarding schools. He noted high enthusiasm from NU's Jombang administrators in welcoming guests with the spirit of ikramud dhuyuf (honoring guests).
Chairman of the Bahrul Ulum Foundation, KH Abdurrozaq Sholeh, said local committees have been working on preparations, involving teachers, senior students, alumni, and the extended boarding school family. Main facilities like sanitation, the opening venue, and discussion areas are 100 percent ready, with only final technical work left to wrap up.
