Surabaya Slaughterhouse Ensures Sacrificial Animal Slaughter Meets Standards and Sharia
PT RPH Surabaya Perseroda assures that the entire process of slaughtering sacrificial animals at the abattoir follows strict standard operating procedures and the Surabaya Mayor's Circular Letter for Eid al-Adha 1447 H. Director Fajar A. Isnugroho explained that they implement strict screening, including checking the Animal Health Certificate and direct examination by a veterinarian before slaughter.
RPH Surabaya also implements a biosafety and biosecurity system through regular disinfectant spraying across all areas to ensure cleanliness and hygiene. This facility is designed to make handling sacrificial animals more orderly, safe, and in accordance with sharia, with halal butchers and veterinary supervision before and after slaughter.
In the Circular Letter, Mayor Eri Cahyadi stipulated that sacrificial animals must be vaccinated against FMD, be free from disease symptoms, and have complete health documents. The City Government advises the public to conduct slaughter at the RPH to guarantee health, cleanliness, and food safety aspects.
