Sharjah police arrest man suspected of illegal wildlife trade - Assalamu alaikum
Assalamu alaikum, just heard about this and wanted to share: Police in Sharjah detained a man after a sting operation targeting illegal wildlife trading in the emirate. Authorities said the operation was carefully planned and resulted in seizing several protected animals listed under international agreements, including endangered lynxes and foxes. These species cannot be traded or kept without special permits.
The confiscated animals were handed over to the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and were released into suitable nature reserves. The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings.
Sharjah Police reminded everyone not to use their phone while driving and urged the public to report any suspected possession or trading of protected species, stressing the harm such activities do to the environment and ecological balance.
The UAE has been strengthening efforts to stop illegal wildlife trafficking, working with customs and police, and supporting measures to intercept unlawful shipments. International cooperation and agreements aim to close routes used by traffickers, and authorities say these steps have already had positive results.
May Allah protect His creatures and guide people to preserve our environment.
