Seeking Guidance on Faith: Between Islam and Christianity
As-salamu alaykum, honestly, it doesn't feel entirely genuine for me to call myself a Muslim right now. I don't mean any disrespect to others, but my faith currently isn't at its strongest. Lately, I've been reflecting a lot about Islam, and there are certain aspects whose purpose I truly struggle to grasp. I've also been exploring Christian beliefs, trying to keep an open mind and ask questions from both perspectives. Please don't take anything I'm about to ask as an attack; I'm sincerely searching for answers. Regarding the claim that Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, wasn't crucified: what evidence supports this? I understand the importance of faith in Allah's word, and I'm sure Christianity has similar points that require acceptance. But this is a significant claim. Beyond the 'body swap' narrative, is there something that makes the Islamic account more convincing? We believe Isa (AS) is the Messiah, will return, and was born of a virgin birth. What is the wisdom behind these events? Are they primarily miracles to demonstrate Allah's power, or does each have a deeper purpose, as interpreted in other faiths? Some Islamic concepts-I'm unsure if they're from the Quran or Hadith-confuse me regarding their purpose: The Sirat Bridge: Some suggest it has origins in other traditions. We have detailed descriptions of both Paradise and Hell. If our deeds are already weighed on the Scales, and we face a comprehensive judgement, what is the specific role of the Sirat? The Night Journey (Al-Isra' wal-Mi'raj): I've seen discussions about parallels with other narratives. What is the clear understanding on this matter? To be honest, I initially started looking into these topics because I've been lazy, neglecting my duties, committing sins, and perhaps seeking an easier path. Now, my genuine desire is simply to follow the truth. Again, I'm not here to argue; I'm earnestly seeking insight and clarity, in sha Allah.
