Security forces say four 'terrorists' killed in Balochistan operation
Assalamu alaikum. ISLAMABAD: Security forces say they killed four militants described as “Indian-sponsored terrorists” in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province after an intelligence-led operation, officials announced on Tuesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the raid took place late Saturday in Kalat district following information about the presence of members of a group the statement called Fitna al Hindustan. The military often uses this label for separatist militants in Balochistan, including the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), who have attacked law enforcement there. Islamabad accuses India of supporting such groups, a charge New Delhi denies.
The ISPR said troops engaged the militants’ location and that four Indian‑sponsored militants were killed. Weapons and ammunition were recovered, and the statement accused them of involvement in multiple terrorist acts.
The ISPR reiterated that a determined counter‑terrorism campaign under the vision “Azm e Istehkam,” as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue until foreign‑backed terrorism is removed from the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the operation and said the fight against the menace of terrorism will go on until it is fully eliminated, adding that the nation stands united with the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Balochistan and neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have seen a rise in militant activity. Balochistan, the country’s largest province by area and rich in minerals, has long faced a low‑level insurgency by separatist groups who accuse federal authorities of exploiting resources and neglecting locals. The government says it is investing in health, education and infrastructure to develop the province. In recent years the BLA has been blamed for high‑profile attacks targeting security personnel, other ethnic groups and foreign workers involved in development projects.
